• We have been conferred The Telegraph School Awards for Excellence, 2014 under the category – “A School That Cares”.It is in recognitionfor our effort in creating a student-friendly and familiy-like environment in our school where each child is given individualised attention.

• Anurag Bhowmik, a student of AHEAD, has been selected for the award of scholarship under Cultural Talent Search Scholarship Scheme-2014 under the aegis of Ministry of Cultural, Govt. of India. He had also received State scholarship by Mass Education Department in the year 2011.
• Aditya Boral, a student of AHEAD, has received Rajya Pratibandi Sammilani Scholarship, 2014. Deepa Saha and Rima Talukdar had got this award in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
• NIOH Project – We conducted Skill development Training Program for PWDs in technical and non-technical category for 25 students. This was sponsored by NIOH (National Institute for the Orthopedically Handicapped), under the Department Of Disability Affairs. Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India. The students got job offers from companies like KFC and Dominoes.

• We held our Annual Sports Day in 22ndDecember 2014 where our students and staff participated with enthusiasm. We were honoured to have Mr. Sabyasachi Mukherjee, a famous film personality who appreciated our efforts in promotion of sports for the disabled. The President of Rotary Club of Calcutta, South City Towers inaugurated the Annual Sports Event,2014.

• Seminar by Dr. Bhusan Punani on CSR – A NEW TOOL FOR RESOURCE MOBILISATION and IMPORTANCE OF CAPACITY BUILDING OF NGOs

  At the initiative of Shri Madan Mohanka, Chairman, TegaIndusties Ltd. and also Chairman, AHEAD, a seminar by Dr. Bhusan Punani, Executive Director, Blind People’s Association and an international speaker and practitioner in the field of CSR and capacity building for the NGOs, was organised at AHEAD. During his stopover in Kolkata on his lecturing tour to Dhaka, Bangladesh, he was kind enough to spare some time at AHEAD to make deliberations along with interactive session. The seminar was attended by distinguished guests from Tega Industries, teachers and staff of AHEAD, some parents and volunteers. He stressed on the importance of developing the organization to have good visibility and evidence of good work so that people are motivated and convinced to donate money. He highlighted the importance of creating transparent systems in the organization.


• Inauguration ceremony of “Flows Uneven -– the World on Wheels” - a film on the life-story of our founder

  The life-story of our founder and Hony. President Dr. Asesh Kanta Banerjee Choudhuryhas been made into a film “Flows Uneven – the World on Wheels” by Mr. Abhishek Ganguli, celebrating his infinite spirit to share and care for all. The inauguration ceremony was held in AHEAD auditorium. The special Guest of Honour was Sri Soumitra Chatterjee, the iconic Bengali film and stage actor and poet , awardee of Padma Bhusan and Dada Saheb Phalke, who is also AHEAD’s Brand Ambassador who inaugurated the film in the presence of dignitaries of RCCM, American Centre and members of SantragachiSagenSakam Dance Group who performed tribal dance in the film. It was also attended by teachers, parents and many other guests.


• Disability Day Walk and Job fair
  

  On World Disability Day, 3rd December 2014, the students of AHEAD participated in an exhibition cum job fair organized by Govt. of West Bengal at RabindraSadan. A walk was also organized to raise awareness in the society. AHEAD also participated in the walk and the exhibition and showcased many products from the vocational unit. A few students also got job offers from the job fair.
